About the Technology Blog

  • This Blog contains technical product descriptions, implementation guidelines and problem solutions from various projects I have worked on throughout the years.
  • Even so the solutions described here are based on practical experience, your mileage may vary.
Therefore, caveat emptor, meaning no guarantees are given and use at you own risk!
That goes for each and every piece of advice given in here.
  • Also, many recommendations are based on practicability and business usability, not necessarily "ideological purity".
Meaning, on occasion there might be a more complex, more technically sophisticated way to solve a specific problem, but that way would also be more difficult to comprehend for the uninitiated observer.
And since in the business world, from which I come, usability trumps all, I usually prefer the practical approach to the technologically puritan one.
Even so that doesn't mean I would accept solutions which do not conform to standards of sound engineering, I am for example among the first to admit that COBOL and ABAP/4 do have their advantages over C++ when it comes to code legibility and ease of software maintenance.
A point upon which I had to fight many a flame wars with Linux script kiddies, who will never learn why commercial systems are still the preferred platform of choice for the business enterprise.
